For a detached home in the middle of the forest near Ommen, the existing kitchen received a complete makeover, without replacing everything. The wish was clear: a more modern look, a more logical layout, and more calm and space in how the kitchen is used. With specific requests like a new range with a large oven, a coffee nook, and floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, the result was a design where functionality and atmosphere come together perfectly.
The existing kitchen served as the starting point. The layout remained largely the same, as did the existing black granite countertop. But thanks to smart additions, the space feels completely new. Warm wood tones in the cabinet fronts and side panels form the foundation, combined with a gray marble look with bronze veining in the coffee nook and along the bar area. The luxurious cabinet wall with built-in coffee nook not only adds plenty of extra storage, but also gives the kitchen an instant boost in style. The cooker hood soffit with pendant lights and integrated range hood reinforces that feeling, creating an atmosphere that's almost restaurant-like.
Lighting and comfort were also carefully considered to enhance the overall experience. A new stretch ceiling with updated lighting improved both the acoustics and the look of the space. Layered lighting, combining recessed spotlights, LED strips, and ambient lighting, creates a warm, cozy setting that adapts to any moment of the day, fully controlled through Philips Hue. This project shows how a smart kitchen makeover can be the foundation for a completely refreshed sense of home, without the need for a full renovation.
