For a duplex home in Utrecht, I created an interior design where the existing elements formed the foundation for a completely new atmosphere. The homeowners' wish was clear: no major renovation, but an interior that truly felt like their own. By working smartly with the home's existing spaces and structure, the result was a design that's warm, personal, and completely in balance.

The style is a mix of Japandi and Mid-Century Modern, with colorful accents and a subtle eclectic touch. A soft, warm white tone forms the calm foundation, while each room was given its own color story. Earthy tones in the kitchen and dining room, green tones in the living room and bathroom, and blue and terracotta accents in the powder room and bedroom create a layered, atmospheric whole. The existing kitchen stayed in place, but was given a completely new look with a wood-look wrap, a new countertop, sink, and backsplash.

The strength of this project lies in the details. In the dining area, an extra skylight brought in more light and calm, paired with a soft linen-look wallpaper that adds instant atmosphere. The bathroom became a true eyecatcher, with a serene Japandi feel and green tile as the statement piece. By listening closely, translating moodboards into concrete choices, and getting creative with what was already there, this project shows that you can make a home completely your own without a major renovation. It's the small choices that make the biggest difference.
